The strive to create an extraordinary life is a full contact sport. There is no easy option when it comes to creating a life we can be proud of.
In consideration of these facts, I’ve always found that the daily grind, seemed less like one, when physically fit.
The better my fitness and physical strength, the better able I’ve been to weather the storms of life.
In fact, I would say that my successes in work, business, and family life have always had a positive correlation with my levels of fitness.
The stronger and more fit I became, the more focus and energy I could conjure up and put towards my family, work, or business.
This is not just something that happens to me and me alone, there is actually some science behind such phenomena.
Nevertheless; this post is not about convincing you of the benefits of the gym.
I know you already understand that our psychology is largely impacted by our physiology. And that improved results in our health and physical fitness can lead to better results for you as an employee, executive, business owner, artist, parent, or whatever label you go by.
IT’S ALL ABOUT INTENSITY
What this post is about, is intensity. And helping you get more if it!
Anybody can go to the gym, but great results don’t just happen because we decide to show up. Great results stem from showing up AND putting in extraordinary levels of effort.
The type of extra effort that is born from intensity. The type of effort that is required to become a heightened version of yourself.
So, if you can dial up your intensity and focus in the gym, you can reach the physical results you are after. And by extension, you can dial up the results in other areas of your life.
One of my secret weapons for getting the most out of the gym (and life), is to show up with music in hand. And not just any music, but music that stokes the internal flames, the passion, the intensity… that in many ways, can’t be tapped by any other means.
Music can be used as a form of audio fire, as a catalyst, as the kick in the pants to get us on a higher mental level. Music can make us rock 14 reps, not just ten. Music can get us through those days when we don’t have much to give, the slumps. It can also makes us forget the clock, and rock sessions longer than we ever thought.
There is certainly some magic and intensity that listening to some music can help to unlock.
So my friends, if you want to find more intensity in your workouts, never rely on the background music that gyms play for you.
The music that most gyms play in the background is essentially elevator music. To dial up how we show up in the gym, forgo the elevator music, and instead leverage your own playlist to get elevated.
