Small Changes

Did you know that success in life isn’t always about taking that one big step or making a bold decision? Nope, success in life is about the small things and the small changes we make day in and day out.

Most people have the wrong perception to think that success is a huge thing in life. This is far from the truth. Success is about making small right decisions and actions, accumulated over time to create a huge impact in life.

Thus, if you want to live a better life, produce better results, and create greater success, you need to master making the right decisions and taking the right actions, every day, day-in, and day-out.

And how do you do that? Well, you start with making small changes to your life. And, here the best small changes you can get started on immediately to start seeing huge results:

Small Changes for Huge Results

1. Define What You Want

The first small step you need to take is to define the life you want. You can’t achieve success without knowing what success looks like.

Just like if you want to travel overseas, the first thing you need to do is to find out which country or what place you want to go to. Knowing your destination is the first step that allows you to create a plan to get there.

Different people have a different definition of success. Some people want to achieve financial freedom from investment, while some want to make an impact through building a company that changes lives.

Action Steps:

You want to identify what kind of success you are looking for. Spend some time to envision the ideal life you want. Define your success and set goals to get there.

2. Make a Plan to Get There

The next tiny step you want to take is to make a plan to achieve the success you have defined in step #1.

A lot of people think that all they need to do is to write down their goals and pray that what they want will come true. Don’t do this. You need to make a plan to get what you want. Things will not magically happen to you.

This is where you brainstorm all the ideas and plans to achieve your goals. If you have no idea how to get what you want, then your plan is to find that out.

This is just like creating an itinerary for your travel. Once you have decided your destination, the next thing you can do is to create an itinerary so that you know how to get there, what are the attractions you are going to visit, and so on.

Action Steps:

Create an action plan for your goals. Make it a habit to plan your day, week, month, and year. The more you plan, the more concrete the future you want will be. Planning is the key to materializing what you want in your mind into reality.

3. Commit to being Consistent with Action

Next, take action – consistent action. Do you know why most people fail to accomplish their goals and achieve their dreams? Well, they don’t take enough action. All they do is daydreaming about the lifestyle they want, but they don’t put in the real action.

Never let this happen to you. And as I said, success is not about taking one big step or making a bold decision, it is about taking consistent action.

Do you know how extraordinary people like Kobe Bryant, Elon Musk, Steve Jobs, Warren Buffett, Jeff Bezos, etc., produce amazing success in life? They take consistent action – one step at a time.

Kobe Bryant didn’t become an NBA star overnight. He did over time. The same goes for J. K. Rowling and many other successful people. Rowling did not write and publish Harry Potter in days, weeks, and even months. It took her 7 years to publish the first Harry Potter series.

Hence, commit to taking consistent action. You don’t need to take big steps, instead, just take baby steps and do it over time, not overnight.

Action Steps:

Commit to the Rule of Five. Take 5 small action steps that will get you closer to your goals and dreams every day. If you take just 5 little steps every day, in a week, you will have created 35 small wins. And in a month, you will have 150 wins. And in a year, you will have 1,825 small wins, which will add up and accumulate to give you a huge victory in life.

4. Make Learning and Improvement a Must

When was the last time you read a book or learn something new? For most people, the answer is years ago.

Most people don’t learn or read after they left school. This explains why most people are stuck in life and never get to where they want to be.

When you don’t learn, you can’t improve. And if you don’t improve, you won’t get better results and greater success in life.

If you are serious about achieving success and living your dream life, you must make learning and improvement a daily habit. Make it compulsory to read and learn something new that is related to your industry.

As a digital marketer, I read books daily and take courses or watch useful videos weekly. I know that if I want to do better, I must equip myself with the right knowledge to go further.

Action Steps:

The more you read, the more you know. The more you know, the more places you can go. Make it a habit to read for at least 30 minutes every day. Make improvement the mantra in your life. Take courses, join the training, and participate in programs that will help you get to a higher level.

5. Work on Your Body, Mind, and Soul

There is no way you can achieve great success without the energy from your body and the bliss from your mind and soul.

This is why it is important to exercise and keep a healthy lifestyle. For instance, when you get enough sleep, you can think better and have more creativity in solving problems in your business and work.

Similarly, when you take care of your soul, you feel at peace and less stressed, which allows you to produce better results and make better decisions in every area of your life.

You don’t want to become the most successful person in the graveyard. Take care of your health, mind, and soul right now so that you can produce more, not less.

Action Steps:

Follow Robin Sharma’s advice by applying the 20/20/20 Rule. Each morning right after you wake up, you want to spend 20 minutes working on your body, mind, and soul each.

Final Thoughts on Making Small Changes

Robert Collier once said, “Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day-in and day-out.” And he is absolutely right. It is what you do every day that is more important than what you do once in a while.

Hence, commit to making these handful of small changes to your life to create a ripple effect in the future. Remember, you want to do something every day that will inch you closer to a better tomorrow. And that’s how success is created.

Till next time,
