Most of us know we should train and shape our muscles on a consistent basis, yet almost all of us forget the importance of training our most important muscle, the brain.
Truth is, all of us forget because we’ve because we’ve become reliant on Google and Wikipedia as our go-to memory. Think about it, much of the recall and work that our brains had to do in the past, is now handled by the vast reserves of data that is so accessible on the internet these days. As a result, we pick up our phones or run to a computer in search of answers we should already know when we come up short in the memory department.
Having a Strong Memory Is Still Important
Unfortunately, this has led to many people dismissing the need for a good memory as a useless skill. But, I am here to tell you, that having a good memory is important, and is still very much a benefit for you to have.
There will be times when you won’t have access to the internet. For instance, during an interview or when delivering a speech. If you can’t remember what you intended to tell your listeners, or fail to recall some simple trivia when Q&A’s come up, you’ll lose your audience’s attention, your ability to influence them, and maybe even their respect (ouch).
Or, perhaps, you’re working on a big project that requires a good understanding of history and current events, well, if you’re memory is weak, it will take you ages to pull together all of the pertinent information needed, because let’s face it, online research can be time intensive.
All I am saying is that there are tons of reasons why it is still useful to be able to memorize information including:
- Helps your brain to remember more quickly
- Challenges your brain, keeping it healthy
- Increases your ability to be creative
- Helps make learning new concepts easier
Also, training your brain helps you to learn faster as well as keeping you free from diseases such as Alzheimer’s.
Obviously, there are many other reasons to have a strong memory, the examples listed above are just the tip of the iceberg. Hopefully, you agree.
How To Increase Your Memory Power?
So, how do you force your brain to remember the information? We got you covered.
Just read below for some simple yet effective ways you can increase your memory power today:
1. Use a Nootropic
One of the easiest and most common ways to increase your memory power is by using Nootropics. What are Nootropics? Well, they are essentially compounds that enhance brain function and are becoming a popular way to give your mind an extra boost. Many people already put Nootropics to use unknowingly when they drink coffee or tea.
However, people could also take a supplement like Onnit’s Alpha Brain, or Ginko, Guarana, etc. There is virtually an endless list of Nootropics you could take to help you flex your memory muscles and get your recall back into shape.
2. Visualize Yourself Remembering
I know this one sounds confusing, but here is the reasoning behind this activity. Let’s say, for instance, you were going out for work, but after stepping a few feet out of your room, you remember you’ve forgotten your watch. So, you decide to go back in and pick it up, but as soon as you get back inside your room, you’ve totally forgotten what you were heading back in the house to grab in the first place.
If this memory fiasco sounds familiar, don’t worry, it happens to the best of us.
You can avoid this by visualizing why you went back to your room in the first place. If you visualize yourself running out the door and then remember that you forgot something, you can enable yourself to re-remember what it was you were looking for. I know, it sounds like a lot of work, but, it does the trick.
3. Avoid Stress
Too much stress can be harmful to our brain cells. In fact, chronic stress is believed to be highly destructive to the hippocampus, that part of the brain that is responsible for the reproduction of fresh memories and the recovery of old ones. Even though stress is part of our day to day lives at our workplaces, it is still a good idea to know how to cope with it.
Here are a few ways you can do so:
Avoiding Last Minute Rush: Leaving things to the last minute can make you worry a lot and also compromise the quality of work.
Avoid Multitasking: You can’t do too much at once unless you work like a machine. Try slowing down enough so you can do one thing at a time.
Have Frequent Short Breaks: The best way to manage your workload is to break it into smaller manageable tasks.
4. Force Yourself to Associate With People
Truth be told, everyone has had irritating moments when their memory fails them while around people. Oftentimes this is something as small as forgetting the name of a person you just met. Great news is, you can actually improve your memory by associating with more people. In fact, if you always make it a priority to remember a persons name and at least one interesting fact about them, you’ll essentially be flexing your memory muscles.
And the more you do this, the more you’ll improve your memory over time. So get out there and get social, and force yourself to remember the name of each person you meet, and you’ll begin seeing improvements in your memory in no time at all.
5. Use the Chunking Technique
Our short-term memory can store just a few things at a time. The more things we have to remember, like a long phone number, or complicated instructions, the harder it will be. However, if you learn how to use the chunking technique, you can help your memory to store more.
So what is the chunking technique? Basically, the chunking technique is where you group multiple individual items to form a larger one. For example, instead of remembering every individual digit of a phone number like 4-0-8-8-8-9-6 (which would be difficult by the way), you instead chunk it together like this, 408-8896. Easy peasy!
6. Eat Berries
There is mounting research that eating berries can help you slow the natural decline in memory that we all go through.
A study was conducted by the University of Reading which discovered that supplementing a normal diet with blueberries for at least 12 weeks increased performance on spatial working memory tasks.
So, next time you go shopping, be sure to add berries to your shopping list.
7. Chew Gum
Our brain, same as the other parts of our bodies depends on blood circulation to work effectively. When there is no blood circulation, all the other body parts are impacted as well. However; there are things you can do to increase the rate of your blood circulation to keep your brain on point, such as working out, running, jogging, and more.
Similarly, when you chew gum, the flow of blood increases to your brain and other parts if the head. This is not to say you should stop exercising, rather, you should add chewing gum to your list of activities to help you increase your bodies blood circulation and enhance your brain activity.
So get to chewing some gum and watch your memory power hum.
8. Avoid Too Much Alcohol
Drinking too much alcohol is also a clear path to lowered brain activity. If you are an alcoholic, you might not agree with this point, but truth be told, it impacts your memory severely and the best thing to do is to call quits.
This is not to say that you shouldn’t drink alcohol ever. Rather, it’s a call for moderation, especially if you wish to improve your memory power.
9. Write Things Down
When you write things down, you help embed that thing you wrote deeply into your mind. Scientists actually have a name for this, it’s called the “generation effect”. The idea premise behind this effect is that if you generate something out of your own mind versus recalling some vague interest or desire, you’ll be better able to remember that thing over that a random memory that was induced by something you read, watched, or learned about from someplace else.
In short, if you want to work on your memory, start writing things down.
10. Get Enough Sleep
Sleep is crucial and can improve our thinking processes. According to science, staying awake for long hours negatively affects your brain activities. However, getting as much needed sleep as possibly can (yes you can over do it) will improve the health of your brain. Every living human being needs at least 8 hours of sleep per night, so if you’re not getting at least 8 hours, this is a good place to start.
Obviously, is not such an easy thing to do because there are things in our lives that prevent us from sleeping, i.e. watching TV or using your tablet and mobile phones just before going to bed. So, a good rule of thumb is focus changing your pre-bed routines to help you avoid the behaviors that are keeping you from getting good sleep.
Do this, and you’ll get better sleep, and with that better sleep you’ll start noticing improvements in your memory.
The Bottom Line
Having a strong memory is still very important in this day and age. In fact, the better you are a memorizing information and recall, the more valuable you’ll be to employers and the market place, so don’t get complacent with your memory.
Now, te great news is you’ve learned 10 effective ways to increase your memory power, so now you have no excuse to get to work on building yours.
They say practice makes perfect, so, start from the beginning of this list and work your way down, so the next time you need to remember something your brain won’t let you down.
Till next time,

15 SIGNS YOU HAVE AN ABUNDANCE MINDSET
Do you have an abundance mindset? If you’re not sure, but want to find out whether you have one or not, and how to develop one if you don’t, then this post is for you.
With that being said, it’s a common belief that the richest people in the world hold the most power. However, we’d like to challenge that thought. We believe those who an abundance mindset have the most power.
Why you ask? Because there’s always the chance that a rich person could lose all of their money. And, if they have an abundance mindset, they’d very easily be able to earn all back. Which is why true wealth and power lie in a mindset, especially an abundance mindset – as this can never be lost.
Essentially, having an abundance mindset is about seeing possibilities and plenty vs. limits and shortcomings. It’s a mindset that demonstrates how you attract what you focus on, and can create something from nothing. So, let’s take a closer look at the abundance mindset and see if we can inspire enough to develop yours.
What Is an Abundance Mindset?
The abundance mentality was first introduced in the book “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey in 1989. Covey, an American businessman, defined it very simply – a concept in which a person believes there are enough resources and successes to share with others. People who have an abundance mindset think that the world’s resources are enough for everyone.
The author contrasted the concept of abundance with scarcity. If we compare the abundance mindset vs. scarcity mindset, the latter implies destructive and unnecessary competition. In other words, it means that when someone else wins, you lose. Such people tend to think that there is no chance of all parties winning in a given situation.
Ever since Covey introduced the theory, fostering an abundance mindset has become recognized as a key component of spiritual and personal development. We can say that an abundance of health is a trigger of prosperity in all possible ways.
But, what kind of prosperity can abundance living bring? People with this mindset have a more meaningful life. They are satisfied by their means of living and aren’t caged by limits. When we say limits, we mean the subconscious barriers that people create inside their minds. Even though they aren’t real, many of us consider these limits to be real obstacles keeping us from achieving our goals.
Besides the absence of limits, those who live an abundant life feel confident, secure, and less anxious. With an abundant mindset, you believe that life provides opportunities for everyone – so there is no need for you to stress out.
Such beliefs impact one’s mindset and behavior. The latter is the consequence of the former. When you believe that opportunities await you, you are utilizing them. Therefore, those with an abundance mentality take full advantage of the chances that lie on their path.
Here are 15 signs that you may be a person with an abundance mindset:
15 Signs Proving That You Have a Mindset of Abundance
1. No Playing Snatch and Grab
If you hear about the possibility of a product shortage, you don’t panic. Some people immediately run to the supermarket and grab dozens of that product off that shelf – but not you.
You are sure that there will be enough to meet your needs and the needs of others. You are even willing to share with those who may not have enough! In short, you have those thoughts of scarcity and panic under control.
2. You Are Grateful for What You Have
Abundance mindset books state that such a type of mindset is wired for the feeling of gratitude. Conversely, those with a scarcity mentality typically have “wishful thinking.” This means they believe that other people are luckier and, thus, more successful.
But since you have an abundant mindset, you realize that life does not bestow luck upon people – we manifest our own dreams into reality.
3. You Always Share
In addition to being grateful for what you have, you don’t mind sharing your blessings. This makes generosity one of the key features of an abundance mentality.
With an abundance mindset, you believe that giving leads to receiving: the more you give, the more you receive.
4. Other People’s Success Is a Reason for Your Genuine Happiness
When somebody has a victory, you don’t feel a spark of jealousy. Instead, you feel true happiness for them. Other people aren’t your opponent. You don’t compete against humanity – you only compete against yourself.
In fact, you know you have an abundance mindset when seeing other people succeed and get rich actually inspires you. You get inspired, but remember that your true goal is simply to be better than you were yesterday, and that you’re making progress on your dreams.
5. “I Am” Instead of “I Will”
Even though you have ambitions for the future, you don’t ignore the opportunities and happiness of the present. With an abundance mindset, you realize that you already have all the tools you need for a wealthy and powerful life.
6. You Go With the Flow
When something doesn’t go according to plan, you don’t freak out. Rather than living in fear of things going wrong, you go with the flow. Life can be a funny thing, full of unexpected twists and turns.
Rather than being anxious over the unknown, you embrace it. This is one of the main mindset goals of abundant people – to overcome fear.
7. You Believe That You Are Worthy of Good Things
Part of living a fear-free life includes believing that you are deserving of a good life. If you believe that you are unworthy, then you will always be fearful of the rug being ripped out from underneath you.
But with an abundance mindset, you anticipate good things happening. You are grateful, but not surprised when you are successful.
8. You Are Ambitious
Speaking of success, you don’t just lie around and wait for it to happen. You set goals; you know your objectives. You dare to dream big every day.
That’s one of the most effective abundance mindset exercises for those who want to abandon the scarcity mentality. You have to forget about barriers inside your mind and open it up for big dreams.
9. You Are Not Jealous
Another facet of the abundance mindset is that you don’t become embittered by other people’s accomplishments. You understand that your goals will be accomplished, just as your peers fulfilled their own dreams. If you feel that envy in your core, that’s a sign that you are still operating in a scarcity mindset, rather than one of abundance.
10. You Focus on Good Things Rather Than Bad
Similar to a lack of jealousy, an abundance mentality excludes pessimism. Such people don’t focus on possible negative consequences or anything else that has a pessimistic tone. Instead, they have a positive attitude and a healthy perspective on life.
Here’s an example of a positive perspective: let’s say a person has an abundance mindset for dating. They have a date tonight, but – oh no! It has started to rain! Rather than being upset by the rain, a person with an abundance mindset will be excited. Perhaps the rain will deepen the romantic atmosphere. Maybe they can even dance in the rain. By focusing on a positive outcome, it will become a reality
11. You Enjoy the Luxury of Time
Some people are rich but have no time to enjoy their successes. They die rich, without ever having truly lived. We believe that you are wealthy if you can enjoy the luxury of time.
Savor every second of your time on Earth – this mindset is the key to a meaningful life.
12. You Freely Navigate Through Your Life
Part of enjoying life includes being open to trying new things and saying yes to opportunities. You know that life will provide for your needs, which is why you are open to making radical changes, exploring new facets, and creating unforgettable memories. You embrace the moment without growing anxious over negative consequences.
13. You Have Peace of Mind
This goes hand-in-hand with the previous point; you understand that life will always provide you with what you need, no matter which path you take. You are at peace knowing that everything will be okay.
This will lead not only to a happier life but also to better mental and physical health. Anxiety can manifest itself in physical ailments, so it is best to cut out anxiety at its core: fear.
14. You Are in The Driver’s Seat
While you understand that life will provide for your needs, you also take full responsibility for your own actions. If you come across hardships, you understand that it isn’t due to fate.
In fact, you don’t really give much of a thought to fate at all! That’s because you are in the driver’s seat, in full control of your life and success. On the other hand, people who have a scarcity mindset will blame others, their environment, and even luck for any hardships.
15. You Acknowledge the Power of Your Thoughts
You know that your thoughts are very powerful. You believe that they shape your present and future life; therefore, you don’t give negative thoughts a chance to survive. You take responsibility for your mind and thoughts and use them wisely to create a bright future.
For example, when you acknowledge the power of your thoughts, you’ll avoid worrying about daily annoyances, petty worries, or even more serious issues, like legal problems, cause you might just create a self-fulfilling prophecy.
How to Develop an Abundance Mindset
If these 15 points didn’t seem familiar to you, there’s no need to worry. It’s more than possible to develop an abundance mindset. Humans have the ability to shape their minds and thoughts. Therefore, it’s just a matter of time and effort.
As such, the secret to developing an abundance mentality lies in a mindset shift. And a mindset shift is possible for the person who is willing to actively work towards creating new healthy habits. With that said, here are just a few ways that you can begin building an abundance mindset for yourself today:
- Avoid Negative Thoughts – To fill your mind with positive, wealthy thoughts, you have to free up space for them. Therefore, it’s time to stop any pessimistic thinking and start taking responsibility for your life.
- Carry Out Regular Mindset Training – Work on eliminating the barriers you’ve set up in your mind. Dare to dream big. Dare to imagine the unimaginable. Develop a belief that you deserve the best, and life will give it to you, as well as to others.
- Try Abundance Meditation – Changing your mindset is hard, but meditation is an effective tool. This helps you connect to your inner self and unleash your inherent power.
- Use Affirmations – Affirmations can help you rewire your mind, and minimize self-defeating thoughts. Give them a try, and you’ll be amazed at the changes they’ll bring to your outlook.
Although it may take a bit of time to develop an abundance mindset, it’s worth it. Prosperity, positivity, and wealth are only some of its benefits.
So, give these practical mindset tips a spin, have faith in them, and then sit back and watch how things begin to dramatically improve for you.

HOW JOURNALING CAN BOOST YOUR CONFIDENCE & QUALITY OF LIFE
When you were a teenager, you may have kept a diary or journal hidden under your mattress. Many teenagers religiously manage sticker-covered notebooks with locks and keys in hopes their siblings, friends, or (God forbid) parents would never find them. Either way, you or some one you know has likely had some kind of a history with keeping a journal, either on paper or on your computer.
For many people, journaling on a piece of paper is the perfect place to face our fears and issues without the risk of punishment or embarrassment. Getting all those thoughts down to paper and out of your head can feel incredibly cathartic and liberating.
Unfortunately, most of us stop keeping a journal as we transition into adulthood. But we shouldn’t stop. We shouldn’t stop because regardless of age, there are immense benefits to journaling, especially when it comes to building our confidence. So, if you’ve stopped journaling, but you want or need a good nudge to starting journaling again, then let’s dive into these handful of benefits of journaling for confidence.
THE BENEFITS OF JOURNALING FOR CONFIDENCE
Note: We are not professional healthcare providers: So, if you struggle with mental health like depression, stress or anxiety disorders, keeping a journal is a useful idea, but it doesn’t substitute for professional medical care. So, if your mental health is severe, please seek the assistance of professional healthcare provider.
1. Positive Mental Health Impact
Let’s start with the most powerful, but the least obvious of the many benefits of journaling for confidence: it drastically improves your quality of life. Journaling lets you regain control over your emotions, which in turns give you much more stable mental health. Here are just some of the ways journaling helps keep depression or other mental health issues at bay:
- it lets you track your symptoms on a daily basis
- it improves mood
- it allows you to recognize patterns and triggers for your mental health issues
- promotes positive self-talk
- tackles negative thoughts and patterns through a more objective perspective
- drastically reduces stress levels
The highest impact on stress levels is boosted by the fact that journaling allows you to identify problems and patterns that repeat on a daily basis. You can use this knowledge to avoid or tackle these issues to reduce your stress levels. Journaling is, according to psychologists, one of the healthiest coping mechanisms for people suffering from high stress levels.
It’s also a great routine to introduce before your bed time. If you have issues with falling asleep due to intrusive thoughts that pop up in your head, journaling can significantly help you get some of those thoughts out of your head. You wouldn’t believe how easier and smaller a problem seems once you put it down to paper.
2. Benefits for Physical Health
It sounds crazy, but journaling can also improve your physical functions and make you healthier. According to a study that carried out a four-month period of expressive writing (journaling) showed that short periods of journaling several times per day lower blood pressure and can even improve liver functions.
Other studies have shown that journaling boosts the immune system, and can even help heal wounds faster. Plus, when you look better, and feel better about your health, you’ll exude a more positive aura, which will help you look and feel more confident (to yourself and others.)
3. Better Memory and Focus
Another one of the benefits of journaling is its impact on your memory and focus. When you write on a daily basis, it’s like a mental exercise for your focusing capacities. Journaling every day will keep you sharp and bright. You will be able to remember small events from your life much more easily.
Ultimately, you will learn how to remember the important things by separating them from the irrelevant.
It can also help you unlock the highest levels of creativity. Many first-time journalers are amazed at the expressive power they manage to exhibit when they find themselves in front of a blank piece of paper for the first time.

4. Journaling For Confidence
The majority of people suffer from low self-confidence. It’s a condition that has a seriously debilitating effect on everyday life. However, there’s a paradox here: no one can improve their quality of life if they do not believe they are capable of doing it.
This applies to all aspects of life. That is why writing a journal will allow you to increase your confidence. So, when you begin to increase your self-esteem, you will feel different in various areas of your life. You will probably feel that you have all the skills necessary to improve your quality of life.
On the other hand, if you do not respect yourself, then there is no reason to improve your quality of life. Here’s my tip. Go ahead, grab one of those cheap composition books, find a place where you’re at peace, and start.
Write where do you want to be and what are your goals. The next day, turn your journal to a new page and write how you feel in that exact moment. Spend the next few days thinking, feeling, and writing about the future and the present moment. Whenever you catch time, turn to a fresh page and continue writing. Over the next days, continue searching for your inner self-confidence, for the strength to do, believe, and speak. It doesn’t matter if it’s about small things or big things.
5. More Gratitude
What is important here is to include everything that had a positive impact on you. It is also a good time to remember those people who made you feel good. Write down a compliment that you get, or what positive action they had with you. You can also add things you have learned and enjoyed.
By writing down each of these experiences, you will be able to remember them and therefore enjoy them again in a certain sense. Without a doubt, these positive thoughts will improve your self-esteem. However, you can also write messages for yourself by writing about your best qualities. Each of the qualities you name will be strengthened as well because you will be recognizing them.
So, one of last benefits of journaling is that is also increases mindfulness and self-awareness. The act of writing things down allows you to be more aware of your life and behavior. Increasing the self-awareness of your emotions leads to more self-confidence.
Why? Because now you have a choice. You get to be in control of your actions instead of going through the motions without thinking about it. The result of all of this is a stronger self-confidence.
Journaling is good for you on several levels – the physical, mental, emotional and even spiritual. It allows you to tap into the best version of yourself and start building upwards from there.
When you keep a journal, you get to know yourself all over again, which will ultimately improve your confidence. These days, many of us form our opinions about ourselves depending on what the media tells us or how closet to us treat us.
However, it goes much deeper than that. In order to find deep and lasting self-love, you have to know yourself well. And there is no better way to do that than by keeping a journal. If you manage to keep one for several years, you will even be able to witness the progression of your character and all the events in your life from a bird’s eye view.
So, if you’re not currently journaling for confidence, go out and get yourself a journal and get started today. Your more confident future self will thank you for it.
Till you reach your aims,

Showing up on time is a terrifically advantageous move on anyone’s part, and this is what we see in those that have made their mark. By managing their time accordingly and ensuring that they are never late to work, meetings, or responsibilities in general, these people are a step ahead of the rest.
People who arrive on time, being early is better, are perceived as dependable and showing that they value their work and prioritize starting on time. You will also find that people who arrive early to work often stay past the hour when they could be clocking out.
Adopting this sort of mentality will aid your work life and spill over into the other areas of life.
2. Prioritization And Productivity:
There are times when the workflow is jam-packed, and one needs to be able to prioritize tasks to ensure that their productivity stays at a steady pace. People who know how to distinguish between what is vital and what can wait save themselves a lot of headaches and stress.
By working in this fashion, one can offer more significant outputs than their colleagues, and they manage to complete more than what is merely required of them in a given timeframe. At times, one’s boss will guide them to learn how to increase productivity, but sometimes one has to demonstrate that they can organize themselves efficiently.
Being more productive is ultimately likely to draw attention from relevant parties and see one receive better incentives.
3. Showing Initiative And Self-Discipline:
As seen in the previous point, one can almost always improve how one works. Making the process more seamless and streamlined comes with taking the initiative and being disciplined enough to get the job done without constantly being told what is required.
With self-discipline, one usually seeks to push themselves to do better and complete tasks without constant guidance and instruction. This sort of behavior makes one more confident as you feel more assertive and in charge of your role. It also shines a good light on you and will surely attract the attention of those around you.
4. Having Clear Goals:
Some of these previous points lead into and spawn from having preset goals and objectives that one needs to achieve within work and their life. People with a good work ethic are constantly striving towards something, and these goals are usually clear and concise. Another important factor is that they will have big ambitions, but they will also be realistic in setting the points they hope to reach.
Before setting out to pursue a goal, one has to know what the purpose is and how they will ultimately be reaching the mark set. So when setting goals, be sure to understand what is required of you fully and then try to push yourself to achieve what you have set out to do.
5. Showing Dedication And Taking Pride In One’s Work:
Many of the other aspects of a good work ethic lead into and play a part in developing one’s dedication to their work and ultimately the pride they have for it. People who are dedicated to what they do will not be tardy, they will show initiative, and their productivity is usually relatively high.
This is because they have set themselves to the task of growing in whichever field they find themselves in. If you commit yourself to your work, you will find that you grow in your discipline, and you will constantly set goals that you are proud of achieving. We all know when we have given our best, and people who do so consistently are genuine assets to those around them.

6. Not Afraid Of Failure:
One thing is certain: people who have seen success in life and who have a good work ethic are not scared of failing. No one enjoys failure, but instead of fearing and dreading the possibility of it, they embrace it as a learning curve.
People, who do not angst about whether they have made a mistake, are more likely to learn and push harder in the future.
It must be noted that not having a fear of failure does not equate to being willing to set yourself up for failure. Some people set themselves up for failure as they do not have a good work ethic. Instead, you should strive to succeed in all you do, and if you make a mistake, then take what you have learned from it and implement it when making future decisions.
Out of all of the good work ethic qualities mentioned, this is one that gets overlooked the most; showing professionalism.
When we think of someone who exudes professionalism, various aspects come into play. From the way they speak, dress, and how they interact with others, one’s whole attitude comes into play. Someone who shows professionalism is polite, courteous, focused, and organized.
To adopt the various aspects of professionalism, one needs first to have self-respect and respect for others. You then need to take your work seriously and utilize all the other attributes we have discussed. Being professional about things does not mean there is no enjoyment, but rather a certain air about how you conduct yourself in the workplace.
8. Being Cooperative And A Team Player:
Cooperative people are not pushovers. Instead, they are merely mature in their interpersonal skills and understand the importance of teamwork. People equipped with a good work ethic tend to make an effort to work well with others, even if they do not always agree with other people or like them in a personal capacity.
Such people realize that the work is a priority, and ensuring a harmonious environment to work in is something that aids this greatly. Having good manners and being polite come into play here as well as being able to handle conflict in a tactful way.
9. Avoiding Distractions:
In years gone by, there were not as many distractions so readily available to us. And despite the wonder of the plethora of forms of communication and entertainment we have these days, they can cause one to become distracted from work. Now someone with a good work ethic will note the distractions that are tempting to them and find ways to avoid them.
In short, being able to stay focused and avoid distractions is key to having a good work ethic.
One way to do this is to not engage with personal or entertainment-based material. This can be done by having a work phone and a personal device. Then while at work, you only answer what is required for the job, and you restrict yourself to say only viewing your personal phone during lunch. This will aid in keeping you focused on the task at hand and keep your workflow going at a steady pace.

10. Maintaining A Positive State Of Mind:
Although last on the list, this point is still incredibly vital when it comes to having a good work ethic. People who can keep a positive mindset tend to look for solutions instead of problems. They are thus more efficient at their jobs and are more likely to get along better with colleagues as they do not allow negative things to fester.
Keeping positive is not always easy, and on certain days, the best among us have probably succumbed to negative thinking. However, it is something which we need to practice and train ourselves to do to ensure that our overall work ethic is not affected.
We hope we answered your questions as to what are the 10 work ethics. To help it really stick, here’s a quick recap of the key characteristics of work ethics:
- Time Management and Punctuality
- Prioritization and Productivity
- Showing Initiative and Self-Discipline
- Having Clear goals
- Showing Dedication and Taking Pride In Your Work
- Not Being Afraid of Failure
- Being Cooperative and a Team Player
- Avoiding Distractions
- Maintaining a Positive State of Mind
That said, a person with a good work ethic is not necessarily a robot; they are usually delightful and fun to be around. The only difference between someone who has a good work ethic and one who does not, is that the latter will likely stagnate in life and allow the hardships of life to break them down and discourage their progress.
The opposite is true for someone with a good work ethic, as they are constantly striving to improve and do better. They are also consistent, which is a key factor to success. So if you are hoping to improve your overall work ethic, or if you’re seeking to encourage someone else, then this list is a great place to start the journey.

10 STEPS TO REWRITE YOUR STORY AND CHANGE YOUR LIFE IN 2023
We’ve all been there – those moments in life when we struggle to find a positive footing due to some of life’s struggles.
But, did you know your personal narrative could be a cause and/or symptom of your situation?
Either way, you know how terrible it can be if you’re on this less than pleasant path.
So, let’s get serious and make the decision today to rewrite your story.
With that being said, here are ten steps to help you start the process of life change!
If You Want to Rewrite Your Story, Follow These Steps…
1. Overcome Negativity Bias
The human brain is wired to make bad stuff stick in a much stronger way than good ones. So, even if you have an equal share of both positive and negative experiences, the brain tends to emphasize the negative ones above the positives.
Psychologists refer to this phenomenon as the negativity bias, and it’s a trap.
It can impact your story and sabotage your success. This is why I recommend overcoming this as the very first thing to do if you want to rewrite your story. Make a conscious decision to focus on the positives in your life once the negativity starts to creep in. This will help put you on alert so you can minimize this bias as you set out to create a new story.
2. Be The Author of Your Own Story
This is more about your mindset than it is about other things. If it’s your story, own it.
Putting yourself in charge as the creator of your story will impact your perspective and approach to life. Rather than living as someone who thinks life just happens to them, you live life as the creator of your own future and destiny.
By creating your story, you can assert your influence on the personality you want to create as well as on the characters embedded within your story, among other things. While external opinions might be considered, you’re the sole authority in charge of which opinions are worth consideration as well as those that belong in the bin.
3. Develop a New Theme For Your Story
Every story should present a narrative to the reader. Likewise when you rewrite your story, you need to find a theme to focus your new story around. Chances are you’ve been focusing on negative and discouraging themes up until this point. It’s time to associate your life’s story with a more encouraging theme.
Consider changing your life’s theme from ‘failure’ to ‘growth.’ And rather than ‘condemnation’, carve your story around ‘redemption.’ In the end, choosing an overriding theme that’s positive and encouraging as this can help change your realities and perspective.
4. Consider Closing Chapters That Need to End
The story of your life will have many chapters. Some of these chapters will be phenomenal. But some will leave little to be desired. If you don’t like the way a certain chapter is unfolding, perhaps it’s time to close it. One bad chapter is not going to be the end of your story.
Take a moment and reflect on certain aspects of your story (life).
Identify key aspects and leverage them to your advantage. If you’re at this point where the way forward does not hold significant promise, gather courage, end that chapter, and leverage the opportunity to start on a clean slate.
5. Embrace Change to Move Forward
Many people are afraid of change. They fear it will knock them off their game for good. But there’s no real growth when you’re approaching key aspects of your life with a rigid mindset.
The whole idea of rewriting your story is about forging a new path. Change is inevitable, no matter how hard it might seem. According to Inc, looking beyond your doubts, fears, and uncertainties to analyze your life, identify the negatives, and take the right steps to change, is requisite for growth and success at work and life.
6. Take Steps to Kill Your Villain
In every story, there’s often a bad guy that ends up defeated. While writing your story, you also should focus on ways to defeat your villains. You need to decide on how you’d go about this.
These villains can come in different forms. It could be the bad company you keep or the bad habits you wish you could stop. Within your story, you need to establish the steps and plans you’ll put in place to defeat these sources of negativities in whichever form they appear.
7. To Rewrite Your Story Change Your Environment
Your environment or location is one of the powerful forces of your life.
Depending on how it is set up, this could either empower or hinder your success. So, if you plan on changing your life, you should also consider changing your environment.
Take this research by the American Psychological Association, for instance. It showed that people working abroad tend to be more creative than those within international boundaries. This does not mean you have to pack up and relocate abroad or elsewhere, I’m just using it as a reference to the power of your immediate environment.
Your place of work, where you hang out with friends, as well as your neighborhood can encourage or sabotage your growth efforts. If your path forward does not seem promising in your current environment, change it. You’re not a tree!
8. Choose The Right Supporting Cast
While you’ll always be the main character in your story, your supporting cast will also play vital roles. If you’re rewriting your story, you’ll need to introduce new characters that may not be in your previous life. The wise thing to do is to choose the right people to go with.
Perhaps you’re creating a new story based around freedom from addiction; you’ll want to keep away from potentially toxic peers who may influence you back to this habit.
In the same vein, if you’re striving for growth in your professional life, you’ll probably want to consider joining professional networks that will prove valuable towards that end. Whatever may be the driving force for your story, you need to surround yourself with the right people to help you as you set out to achieve your goals.
9. Create Strong Goals
Speaking of goals, rewriting your story is also about rewriting your goals. The goals you’ve had in the past may no longer be serving you. So, considering creating some goals that will inspire and enliven your outlook.
Of course, you’ll want to ensure that your goals are S.M.A.R.T., but the important thing is that you create strong goals for yourself. Goals that will pull energize and pull you into action. Because let’s be honest, if you want to change your life and your story, it is going to require lots of action.
10. Keep At It
Now that you’ve rewritten your story and are taking action to change your life, it’s important to understand that challenges and setbacks will surely surface. Whether or not you end up successful will depend on how resilient and persistent you are.
Everything we’ve mentioned here should be adhered to religiously. You’ll need to keep practicing and doing the right things until they become habits for you.
So keep at it and persist, and positive change will come.
Final Thoughts on Rewriting Your Story
The past belongs in the past. But the future is well within your control.
Regardless of where you are in life, you can always reframe and rewrite your story for the better. The tips above are tested and proven if you feel stuck and want to take charge of your life. You can’t keep blaming others for the way your life has turned out.
Do an honest assessment and take a moment of deep reflection. Don’t allow the current torn and undesirable chapters of your life to extend longer than necessary. Discover a new theme for your life and become the author of your own story. These and the other steps will help you rewrite your life and in the process, create a new reality for yourself.
Till next time,
